Innovative Nursing Program
Supporting Innovative Nursing Program
With the increased need for more front-line, direct-care nurses, Ovintiv was pleased to partner with the University of Northern British Columbia’s Northern Baccalaureate Nursing Program (NBNP) in Fort St. John, British Columbia.
Thanks in part to Ovintiv’s $25,000 sponsorship, the first cohort of 13 students started their nursing studies at NBNP in the fall of 2021. Combined with capital funding, our gift was essential to launching the NBNP and buying four Nursing Anne simulation mannequins that allow students to experience scenario-based training for advanced nursing skills.
The program will ensure more patients in the region can access care that will improve their quality of life, while enabling students to pursue their health-care education and training closer to home.

Safety is one of our core values which is why we are proud to support the organizations that help keep our communities safe. In 2021, Ovintiv provided $80,000 in financial support to volunteer fire departments and local emergency management organizations across our operations. Strengthening communities by building relationships with our local first responders, and ensuring they are adequately resourced, is a pillar of Ovintiv’s social commitment.
Permian Strategic Partnership
Permian Strategic Partnership
We are a member of the Permian Strategic Partnership (PSP), a coalition of energy companies and regional leaders who have come together to strengthen and improve the quality of life for Permian Basin residents. In just two and half years, the PSP has raised $48.5 million, which has been directly invested in Permian Basin projects that support great schools, safe roads, quality healthcare, affordable housing and a trained workforce. Some key investments include:
- Providing funding to help bring IDEA Public Schools to Midland and Odessa
- Funding additional training and certification for teachers,
- Providing equipment to local first responders
- Funding the expansion of the Texas Tech University Family and Community Medicine Rural Residency program as well as supporting the expansion of the Masters of Physician Assistant Studies program
- Undertaking a detailed review of workforce needs vs. available training to identify gaps
At Ovintiv, we believe there is a human connection between the energy we produce and the energy of our people. Through Ovintiv Gives, our workplace giving program, we match employee charitable contributions dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000 per employee per year. In 2021, with the corporate match, our employees donated almost $1.9 million to over 900 charities across North America, providing a positive, far-reaching impact in the communities where we live and work.

Adopt a Family
Adopt a Family
The holiday season can be a challenging time for families in need. Recognizing this, employees on various teams in our Calgary office have participated in the annual Adopt a Family initiative in December for the past 15 years. Individual employees contribute what they can and a dedicated volunteer buys holiday gifts for as many families as possible. In addition to supporting families, this initiative unites staff in the spirit of giving and allows colleagues new and old to work together to sort toys, wrap gifts and spread holiday cheer.
For more than 10 years, our employees have driven a companywide Movember campaign to raise awareness of men’s health issues. In 2021, Team Ovintiv raised almost $30,000 and mobilized people across the organization to stand up team campaigns and engage with their colleagues.
Connecting our people with those in need
Ovintiv and our employee resource group, LINK, is taking a fresh approach to volunteerism across our company. In the fall of 2021, we successfully piloted pop-up volunteer events in each of our corporate offices. Our employees look for ways to make a difference and didn’t hesitate to sign up for a number of volunteer events. Colleagues in each of our three corporate offices gathered to assemble snack bags and lunches, providing essentials for some of our communities’ most vulnerable.
In total, nearly 600 bags were assembled to support three local charities: Urban Peak in Denver, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Houston and the Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association (CIWA).
Requests for funding are accepted year-round through our online application system. Ovintiv awards contributions based on opportunities most aligned with the three pillars of our social commitment — Respecting Stakeholders and Indigenous Partners, Strengthening Communities and Fostering Inclusion – in communities where we have active operations.
Guidelines and Eligibility
Those requesting funds must be an established nonprofit or 501(c)(3) organization, located in or serving a community where we have established offices or operations. The organization should be a registered charity eligible to issue official tax receipts for donations.
Limitations and Exclusions
Our Community Investment donation guidelines prohibit us giving to:
- Religious organizations (except non-faith-based associations)
- Third-party fundraisers
- Professional conventions, conferences, seminars or galas –unless industry related
- Travel for individuals or groups
- Programs located outside of the regions or communities where Ovintiv operates
- Political events
How to Submit a Request:
We accept funding requests only through our online application process. Upon submitting your application, you will receive an email confirmation. Proposals are reviewed on an ongoing basis, and it can take up to six weeks for review of your application.
