SUSTAINABILITY PRIORITY ASSESSMENT

In 2021, we concluded an environment, social and governance priority assessment to develop a list of issues relevant to Ovintiv and our shareholders.  

Our approach incorporated sustainability materiality assessment guidance contained within voluntary international sustainability reporting standards. To develop a list of relevant issues, we utilized the SASB profile for the oil and gas industry, performed gap analysis based on disclosure benchmarking and included feedback from stakeholder interactions. Next, we met with stakeholder groups through a formal, strategic process that incorporated both qualitative research and quantitative analysis to effectively evaluate the most relevant issues against two criteria: impact to our business and importance to stakeholders. Through ongoing stakeholder engagement mechanisms, we affirm that these priorities remain relevant to our sustainability strategy and reporting practices.

Sustainability priorities are regularly reviewed and monitored by our executive leadership team as part of ongoing Board responsibilities.
